Division 3 - week by week brief match reports Week 5 Littleover A continue to lead the early table following a comprehensive 9-1 home win over Chellaston A with an aggregate score of 158-90. Chellaston's first team fared rather better and lie second in the division. They were at home to Brackens B and ran out 8-2 winners with a 143-111 score. Brackens' two winning cards were both single-figure wins; Judy Stevenson won 21-8 and Carol Murden won 21-9 for the visitors. Alvaston and Boulton A got off the mark with their first win as they recorded a 7-3 at home against Rowditch A. Final score was 142-125 in spite of a 21-8 win for Rowditch's Teresa Ging. It was a tight one at Allestree A when the aggregate score was tied at 126 each. Five winners to the home team gave Allestree the match win at 6-5, but 21-3 wins for Rolls Royce B players Sylvia Fitzpatrick and Pam Knight made it a close-run thing. Week 3 Rowditch A were away winners when they went to Rolls Royce A. Tracey Wilson won 21-6 for the visitors and June Henson weighed in with a 21-9. These cards made the difference and Rowditch completed an 8-4 win with a 123-136 scoreline. Chellaston had a big home win against Littleover B with a 164-113 aggregate score resulting in a 9-1 victory. Sylvia Boldison was the only winning card for the visitors. Littleover A did rather better than their clubmates when they were at home to Alvaston and Boulton A and ran out 8-2 winners. Jean Parker had a 21-2 for the home side and this was enough to secure the win. Boulton battled hard in the rest of the games and had seven scores of 17 or more in an aggregate scoreline of 152-135. Week 1 All home wins in this division in the first week. There were three 8-2 wins, the most comprehensive of which was Chaddesden A's result against Alvaston & Boulton A. Three wins to single figures went a long way towards a 155-95 victory. Allestree A were also convincing in their win against Chellaston A. They dropped only 9 shots in their 159-111 scoreline. Barbara Briers and June Mack were the winners for the visitors. Meanwhile Chellaston's first team were running up a similar scoreline at home to Rolls Royce A. Gill Collis had a 21-8 win for the visiting team but big wins for Pat Brown, Kath Wightman and captain Doreen Pagett sealed a 149-110 home win. There were some close games in the match at Littleover A when Rowditch A were the visitors. The home side only dropped 9 shots but Rowditch managed to secure three winners in a 7-3 result for Littleover. It was a closer affair at Rolls Royce when RR B and Brackens B had four winners each. Most of the games went close but the home side edged the aggregate score 150-140. |
Week 4 Remarkably it was all away wins in this division this week and some of them were big ones. Allestree A dropped only one shot on their trip to Rowditch A. Jean Millington won 21-3 and Maureen Ball won 21-6 in the 11-1 win for Allestree. Chellaston A were at home to their 1st team and suffered a 1-11 reverse as Marjorie Blincow and Glenis Hardy recorded single-figure wins for 'the visitors' in a 109-162 scoreline. There was a third 1-11 result at Brackens where Chaddesden A beat Brackens B with a 102-161 score. Joy Wood won 21-6 and Nicola Clarke won 21-7 for Chaddesden. Littleover A were the 'away' team when they played their third team, Littleover B. They ran out 10-2 winners and the aggregate score was sealed when they recorded wins to 2, 4 and 6 from Betty Armishaw, Chris Cowley and Mavis Sinnott respectively. Final score was 100-156 to the 'A' team. It was a good week for the Royces teams. RR 'B' visited Rowditch A and ran out 10-2 winners. Mavis Shepherd got the home side off to a good start with a 21-4, but a 21-3 from Kath Hendry and a 21-6 from Sue Cox helped the visitors secure the aggregate 105-150. RR 'A' were away to Alvaston & Boulton A and ran out 9-3 winners. No big winners on either side in a 133-150 scoreline. Week 2 Just three games this week as bad weather took its toll on scheduled matches. All of the matches resulted in away wins, two were 9-3 results and the third was 8-4. Littleover A visited Rolls Royce A and had two big winners to help them on their way. Joyce Tempest won 21-4 and Mavis Sinnot won 21-7. The rest of the side gave very little away and they took the aggregate score 125-158. Allestree A were the other 9-3 winners. They had no single-figure winning cards but they consistently had the better of the home bowlers and ran out 130-148 winners. Chaddesden A made the trip to Littleover B and included wins to 4 and 5 from Nicola Clarke and Sheelagh Taylor in their line-up. The rest of the games were hard fought but those two cards made the difference and Chaddesden A triumphed 8-4 with an aggregate score of 127-154.
